Medications: Includes all prescription and over-the-counter drugs and products. For example: baby aspirin, Bayer, Bufferin, Tylenol, Advil, ibuprofen, sleep aids, Ex-Lax or other laxatives, Maalox or other antacids, vitamins, supplements or tonics, cough syrup, cold medicine, Nyquil, Mentholatum, Vicks, Deep Heat, Ben-Gay, rubbing alcohol or any liniments, Murine or medicated eye drops. Other products such as: foot powders, creams or pads, Noxzema or any medicated creams or powders, hemorrhoid treatment creams or pads. Alcohol or alcohol-containing products are also not allowed. Illicit drugs or illegal substances are strictly prohibited, i.e., cocaine, crack cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, ecstasy, hallucinogens, marijuana, inhalants, amphetamines, barbiturates, prescription drugs without a prescription.
**Note: A good rule of thumb has been established by the Food and Drug Administration whereby any products labeled “Keep out of reach of children” or that carries any type of caution label is merchandise that contains ingredients which are harmful if taken without supervision or used in a way not designated. Many of our residents, due to mental impairments or poor eyesight, might inadvertently drink or eat some of the above items causing irreparable harm.
Safety Hazards: AEROSOL CANS of any product are combustible (please no air fresheners including sprays or solids). GLASS ITEMS which can be broken and cause cuts. RAZORS AND BLADES. Clothing hampers must have lids and be completely enclosed or lined. SCISSORS OR KNIVES – Only blunt edge scissors are permitted. CROCHET NEEDLES are allowed – only plastic knitting needles are acceptable. EGG CRATE MATTRESSES not allowed as they are not flame-retardant. PLANT FOOD OR CLEANING SUPPLIES. EXCESS PAPERS OR FURNISHINGS, THROW RUGS – These items can cause fires or falls. Drug paraphernalia of any kind is strictly prohibited including, but not limited to pipes, bongs, hookahs, roach clips, syringes, razor blades, or rolling papers not intended for smoking tobacco.
Food: Only limited amounts in airtight containers. Excess food encourages insects and other pests. Especially limit items which are highly perishable.
Electrical Appliances: No coffee pots, toaster, electric blankets, heaters, hair dryers, curling irons, etc. No heating pads. Fans only by order of the physician and they must be UL approved. Refrigerators must be UL approved and checked by Maintenance before using. No electronic ovens under any circumstances. No HOT WATER BOTTLES, ICE PACKS, ETC. – All must be given as treatments by order of the attending physician. EXTENSION CORDS AND MULTIPLE PLUGS – not allowed.
Smoking: Smoking materials are not allowed including E-cigarettes.

You are always allowed to visit your loved ones in the center during visiting hours. Overnight stays are at the discretion of the administrator and will need to be approved beforehand; however, we ask that you are mindful of others as this is their home. If you have any further questions, please ask the administrator.
